Fez

Fez draws inspiration from the intricate ceramic patterns and traditional tilework of Fez, Morocco, a city renowned for its centuries-old craftsmanship. Painted in a striking monochrome palette, the composition brings together geometric motifs, flowing botanical forms and rhythmic repetition. Bold spirals, interlocking triangles and checkerboard patterns create a visual dialogue between the precision of traditional Moroccan ornamentation and the freedom of contemporary abstract painting.

Created with professional oil paint on canvas, the work combines carefully structured geometry with expressive, hand-painted details. The contrast between deep black and warm ivory allows each pattern to stand independently while contributing to a unified composition. Rather than reproducing traditional ceramics, Fez reinterprets their decorative language on a larger scale, transforming centuries-old motifs into a contemporary statement of pattern, movement and cultural inspiration.
