Amber tide I

Amber Tide I transforms natural oyster shell into a warm, golden sculptural surface shaped by light. Individually selected fragments of nacre are arranged and set by hand, their organic variations in shape, texture and iridescence creating a composition that can never be exactly repeated. Golden tones enrich the natural mother of pearl, shifting from deeper amber hues to luminous metallic reflections as light moves across the work.

Built in layers on a solid wood panel, the irregular contours of the shell create physical depth as well as visual rhythm. Rather than presenting gold as a flat, uniform surface, each fragment catches and reflects light at a different angle, allowing warmer highlights and flashes of nacre to emerge throughout the composition. This unique interaction between oyster shell, gold and changing light gives the work its distinctive sense of movement.

Handcrafted in the Contemperart Atelier in Amsterdam, Amber Tide I sits between contemporary wall art and sculptural object.

Framed in natural pine wood, covered with a layer of resin. 45 x 60 CM.
