Turbulence, by Amsterdam-based artist Mario Sanchez, transforms the unpredictability of fluid paint into a composition of colour and movement. Set against a white ground, streams of acrylic converge, separate and fold into one another, creating forms that appear suspended between chance and control. Sanchez discovered fluid art in 2019, developing a practice in which the behaviour of the material becomes an active part of the composition. Here, the shifting colours suggest the work's title without depicting a literal storm. The result is a painting that captures turbulence as a state of constant motion.
