The second work in The Busy Three continues Weinberger’s early exploration of abstraction through a distinctly bold palette and tightly contained composition. Like the other paintings in the trilogy, it was made in acrylic on a modest 50 by 40 centimetre canvas, forcing colour and movement into close proximity. There is an experimental quality to the work: forms seem to compete for space without settling into a single focal point. Its energy comes precisely from that visual restlessness, a quality that would become central to Weinberger’s later abstract paintings.
