In Nothing In Life Is Promised, Mario Sanchez turns the all-seeing eye into a symbol of uncertainty and self-reflection. Spread across three canvases, the central motif looks simultaneously in different directions, reflecting what Sanchez describes as the competing pressures of an artist's life: financial uncertainty, the pursuit of creative freedom and the search for inner peace. Written phrases at either side introduce another layer, serving as reminders to seize the day and remain present. Personal yet universal in its concerns, the triptych transforms the artist's own struggles into a meditation on ambition, uncertainty and the impermanence implied by its title.
