Aggressive greens layered with gold dominate Chaos, a painting made during a particularly turbulent period in Weinberger’s life. The artist has connected its uneasy palette and forms to a succession of personal difficulties at the time, including identity theft, while the small bacteria-like organism within the composition becomes a symbol for problems multiplying beyond control. Gold offers flashes of beauty, but never fully settles the agitated green around it. The result gives chaos a visual language: dense, invasive and strangely compelling.
